From an outing last Spring. A lively clear spring day painting plein air oil from out near the Hugh Norris trailhead in Saguaro National Park West, which includes a large portion of the Tucson mountain range. Brittle bush blooms and copious sunshine.

An on-sight plein air oil painting produced in Sabino Canyon. I was perched near the riverbank a few bridge crossings up stream. The late afternoon light was giving way to evening and made for dramatic shadows separating the cactus from the upslope ridgeline and sky. My favorite time of day.

A plein air done in saguaro National Park West looking out over Avra Valley to the South West. I'm frequently struck by the view of distant CAP water recharge ponds reflecting like shimmering mirages in the arid landscape. Visions of precious water mingling beyond the forest of hearty cholla and saguaro.
